Keeping Loose

Keeping Loose Hey guys, So two nights ago, I just did something completely out of the blue, and it was wonderful and much needed. After studying for finals and writing papers for about eight hours straight, I was just about ready to lose my mind; my girlfriend and roommates werent holding up much better, and it was only getting later. Finally, at 1 a.m., when normal people go to bed or continue studying, we did the exact opposite we went to Walmart and bought Nerf guns! Image found at (http://nerf.wikia.com/wiki/File:Nerf_logo.png) Thats rightâ€"that childhood toy that so many of us fondly remember playing with. We, as 20- to 22-year-old college students strolled into the Champaign Walmart and bought four Nerf guns and an expansion pack of Nerf darts. We did not play around well technically, we did. For the next two hours, we had an all-out Nerf war in our apartment, with my girlfriend acting as the armed referee. It was totally crazy and out of the ordinary and exactly what we needed. There are so many kids that I see going into finals and spend their entire last two weeks of the semester working  so hard that they forget to be people and turn into nonstop studying machines. Now, dont get me wrong, everyone needs to study hard for finals and apply themselves as much as they can. However, at the same time, everyone also needs to remember to relax and calm down. Theres no point in studying your butt off for two weeks straight if youre so wound up, tired, and stressed that you cant function and perform as you should. I know Ive been saying this a lot during finals week, but take the time to relax every once and awhile. I hope this helps, guys, and I hope finals are going well for all of you. Until next time, Kenny Kenny Class of 2016 I’m in the Creative Writing program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I’m originally from Tampa, Florida, but I’ve been calling Illinois my home since 1998. I’ve lived all over the Northwest suburbs, from Palatine to Lakemoor to where I currently live back home, Mundelein.
